Hyelin Park

I am a graphic and interaction designer based in London. My practice is grounded in research and data-driven experimentation, translating information into tactile and sensorial experiences. I rework collected data in different ways and explore new forms of visual language through material experiments that move between digital processes and physical making. I am interested in turning data beyond numbers and graphs on a screen into archives that can be felt by the body, gently shifting how we perceive our environments and one another.

A Thermal Archive

A Thermal Archive is a wearable project that transforms my own body temperature into a physical garment. The project grew from an interest in haptic memory and the idea that temperature is constantly felt yet rarely archived. Using a thermal imaging camera, I scanned my body to capture how heat is distributed across different areas in real time. These thermal zones were translated into blocks of colour and shape, laser-cut from paper, and assembled into a wearable structure. By wearing a map of my own heat, the work explores how bodily data can be sensed materially rather than viewed only as an abstract image.

The Bloom

The Bloom is a research-led project that questions whether what we perceive as nature can ever be called fully natural. Focusing on the industrial cultivation and global distribution of flowers, the project examines how natural forms are transformed into idealised products shaped by human desire, and highlights the paradox that this system can generate more carbon emissions than the production of artificial flowers. Through research, data, and material experimentation, the work visualises how ideas of nature are constructed, controlled, and consumed.

Dystopian Organic

Dystopian Organic is a 3D modelling project that imagines hybrid organisms existing between natural and artificial worlds. The project explores the blurred boundary between living matter and industrial artefact. Starting from botanical references, field observation, and scanned organic forms, I rebuilt and transformed natural structures into speculative creatures that feel simultaneously organic and artificial.
