Developed in response to the “Deep Dive” brief, this editorial design project explores the visual and structural language of knots. Through research and analysis, 36 commonly used knots were deconstructed, categorised, and translated into graphic forms. By simplifying their construction into lines, intersections, and repeated patterns, the project investigates the relationship between functionality, symbolism, and visual systems.
The publication was digitally printed and hand-bound using a coptic stitch binding, chosen for its exposed interwoven structure that reflects the nature of knots themselves. A laser-cut cover introduces layers and negative space, extending the idea of tension and connection through the physical object.
