This design is a double-sided A2-sized work, where one side is divided into 16 independent squares that show the noise factors and the other side acts as an overall signal but with hidden noise. It uses a concertina folding style and has no fixed reading sequence.
When the work is fully unfolded, the neat picture reveals the original meaning and pure emotional expression of the emojis, representing a clear and complete communication signal. Viewers can fold the poster at will. The folding action will cut off the content, disrupt the reading logic, and also cause the contents on both sides to interweave with each other. The design simulates the process of meaning deviation and misunderstanding of emojis through the influence of different factors, and presents the noise of communication. Through visual distortion, interpretation comparison and interactive folding forms, it presents the transmission changes of emojis from initial accurate signals to chaotic noise. It aims to enhance people’s awareness of the potential risks in the dissemination of emojis, and to make the public realise that when using emojis in daily life, the seemingly simple and intuitive visual expression is actually constantly influenced by various hidden noises.
