Space in Formation is a data visualisation project that explores how public space is shaped through human movement and temporary interventions. Focusing on Southbank Square, the project investigates how walking, playing, and sitting behaviours transform spatial flow, especially in relation to movable furniture. Through site observation, mapping, and behavioural analysis, movement data is translated into weaving-based visual systems, where lines, textures, and density represent patterns of circulation and social interaction.
The project combines both digital and physical experiments, including printed maps, material weaving, and installation prototypes, to explore how data can become a tactile and spatial experience. It ultimately proposes space as something continuously formed through human activity rather than a fixed structure.
